MBCT groups –
While “Therapy” is in the title of MBCT, this is technically a course, not psychotherapy or group therapy, so –
There isn’t much self-disclosure beyond what you experienced after a mindfulness practice, and would like to share (and is always optional)
There’s no “cross talk” to help maintain a vulnerable, supportive space
Learn in a consent-forward, personal way, not sharing anything you don’t want to!
Starts from a base of mutual agreements, like on confidentiality and respect
It’s a powerful thing, getting to see people access something big, and this tends to produce strong group experiences
– Jon Kabat-Zinn (Creator of MBSR)
I am trained in MBCT through Brown University School of Professional Studies, which is a focused professional credential for clinicians already trained in mindfulness
I try to embody an effective, accurate understanding of the processes behind recurrent depression, and how mindfulness impacts them
We can develop a whole new way of working with (and even befriending!) the mind and body, through experiential, even uplifting(!) shared experiences
Evidence-based, aimed at self-empowerment to disrupt unhelpful patterns
For anyone whose just trying mindfulness or looking to deepen their practice!
